One thing that appears to be certain about James Holzhauer – when he’s on Jeopardy!, he rarely appears to be in jeopardy.
The professional sports gambler from Las Vegas has extended his winning streak on the knowledge-based game show to 21, moving him into second on the Jeopardy! all-time list.

When it comes to longevity, Ken Jennings remains the king of Jeopardy. From June 2, 2004 through Nov. 29, 2004, Jennings won 74 consecutive games on the show.

The previous record for consecutive wins on Jeopardy! was eight.
Odds are against Holzhauer putting this kind of run together. His aggressive style, while essential in how quickly he’s been able to assemble over $1.5 million in earnings, will eventually be his undoing.
No is still listed as the favorite here, with good reason. Holzhauer won’t unseat Jennings in this instance.

According to research by the website FiveThirtyEight.com, the average Jeopardy! contestant answers questions correctly at a .280 average. Holzhauer has been hitting at a .586 clip.
The baseball world still looks up 1941, the year Williams batted .406 for the Boston Red Sox, as nirvana. Compared to that, Holzhauer is Pete Rose and Ty Cobb all rolled into one. But .586 still isn’t anywhere hear .900.
