- The Players Championship tees off March 14th
- The “5th major” sees the entire top-50 in the world competing at TPC Sawgrass
- We’ve narrowed down the golfers with the best chance of emerging victorious
The PGA Tour’s crown jewel tees off March 14th with all the top names competing for the prestigious Players Championship title. The quirky and diabolical TPC Sawgrass will surely be unpredictable as is often the case every year.
This event has switched back to March from May for the first time since 2006, so the cooler temperatures should make scoring more difficult with Dustin Johnson and Rory McIlroy listed as the co-favorites.

Sergio Garcia Primed for 2nd Players Championship Title
Following his breakthrough major victory at the 2017 Masters, Sergio Garcia has been stuck on ten PGA Tour victories.
This event is wildly unpredictable, yet Sergio is as close to money in the bank as it gets at TPC Sawgrass, which bodes well.

The 2008 Players Champ has been oh-so-close a handful of other times, most notably losing in a playoff in 2015, and rinsing three balls in the water on the final two holes in 2013 when he was tied with Tiger Woods for the lead.
Garcia’s Best Finishes at Players Championship

---|---|
2008 | WIN |
2007 | 2nd |
2015 | T-2nd |
2014 | 3rd |

2013 | T-8th |
Sergio also enters this tournament with fantastic form, posting nine top tens in his last 11 worldwide starts. Look for the Spaniard to nab his first PGA Tour victory since slipping into a green jacket in 2017.

2019 Players Championship Best Value Picks
- Patrick Cantlay (+4000): Strong T-6 showing at recent WGC-Mexico. Apart from one missed cut, hasn’t been worse than 17th in six other tour events this season including four top tens. Respectable T-22nd and T-23rd finishes in first two starts at Sawgrass.
- Jordan Spieth (+5000): Winless in his last 36 starts with his best finish a pedestrian T-35th in seven events this season. However, the light bulb can come on at any time for the phenom and there will never be a time where these odds aren’t worth wagering on for the three-time major champ.
- Matt Kuchar (+5500): The 2012 Players Champ has two wins this season already and was in contention through 36 holes at the WGC-Mexico before a rare hiccup saw him tumbling down the leaderboard. Keeps the ball in play which is critical at Sawgrass.
- Kiradech Aphibarnrat (+15000): In the last two years he’s shown an affinity for playing great in big spots to take on the titans of the game with T-3, T-4 and two T-5 showings at World Golf Championship events.
