Lakers Betting Analysis

The Lakers didn’t get off to the start they wanted in the Summer League, losing their first two games to the Sacramento Kings 2 and the Golden State Warriors. Their lackluster performance in the Summer League so far has oddsmakers setting them as underdogs on Wednesday.

In their first game, LA scored 94 points, but their defense couldn’t stop the Kings from putting up 108. In their second game against the Warriors, the Lakers only managed to score 68 points and took another loss.

Bronny James, the highly anticipated rookie, had a rough start in his first Summer League appearance. He scored just four points in 21 minutes and finished with a minus-15 rating. However, there were some bright spots for the Lakers.

Blake Hinson showcased his shooting potential, knocking down five of his seven attempts from beyond the arc en route to a 17-point performance. Forward Colin Castleton also had a nice outing, recording a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Bronnuy James Injury Update

The Los Angeles Lakers rookie guard Bronny James missed his second Summer League game on Sunday against the Golden State Warriors due to trace swelling in his left knee. The second-round draft pick, who made his professional debut just a day earlier, was held out as a precautionary measure.

Despite the setback, there’s good news on the horizon for the 19-year-old son of NBA superstar LeBron James.

Lakers Summer League head coach Dane Johnson provided an optimistic injury update, revealing that Bronny is considered day-to-day and is expected to suit up for the team’s final California Classic game against the Heat on Wednesday.

Heat Betting Analysis

On the other side of the court, the Miami Heat enter this matchup with a 1-1 record. They suffered a blowout loss to the Warriors in their first game, falling 105-66. However, they bounced back in their second game against the Kings, securing a 102-86 victory.

Kel’el Ware led the way for the Heat, putting up an impressive 26 points and 11 rebounds. All five starters scored at least nine points, but the bench production was lacking. The Heat will need a more balanced attack if they hope to come out on top against the Lakers.

Heat vs Lakers Prediction

It’s hard to feel confident in this Lakers team right now given their mediocre showing against Sacramento’s B-team followed by an abysmal performance against the Warriors. Bronny James is at least one reason to tune in, but his 2-of-9 shooting performance doesn’t inspire much confidence.

We’re backing Miami to cover in what should be a rather low-scoring NBA Summer League game. Rookie star Kel’el Ware should make another statement today against a Lakers defense that looks disinterested. On the flip side, we don’t see the LA offense suddenly exploding offensively.

MIA-LA Picks:

  • Heat -5 (-110)
  • Under 175.5 Points (-110)
